Gallery 1 presents group shows of new work by both emerging and established artists, chosen locally and nationally, with an emphasis on works that are new and experimental. These thematic group exhibitions or large solo projects run for twelve weeks. Annually, the staff Curator programs two exhibitions and the third is curated by a guest curator. Proposals for exhibitions from outside curators are considered every February. For each accepted proposal, Artspace provides a catalogue, a promotional mailing, gallery signage, staff coverage, basic insurance, an artists’ reception, some installation assistance and standard hanging hardware/gallery lighting. Although our funding is limited, with advanced notice our staff will also work with guest curators to try to raise any additional funds needed to present the exhibition successfully.
