Who Can Participate
CWOS is open to all Connecticut visual artists. Choose which component of the festival interest you, and then register using our online system. We will notify you after each deadline about which portion of the festival your work will be shown in. We encourage artists at all stages of their careers to apply for one or more of our City Wide Open Studios options.
Open your private studio to the public if you are in Downtown New Haven (including East Rock), Hamden/Newhallville, Westville, or West Haven. If you do not have access to a studio within this area, you are invited to find a temporary studio and apply for our special exhibition opportunities - the Artist-in-Residence Site (AIRS) program or CONNcentric, the exhibition at Artspace.
Art Students
University students are welcome to participate in CWOS. Colleges (Paier, Southern and Yale) may open their campus studios for CWOS. Ask your art department if your school is registering for CWOS and to be included on their participating students list. You are also welcome to register as an individual artist, either for $25 to have your own artist profile page in the printed directory (deadline August 29) or for the full $50 if you'd like to be considered for the special exhibitions (early deadline August 3).
Artist Groups and Special Programs
Artspace welcomes groups who are pursuing the visual arts as part of a collective, social, educational, or community program. If your group has a space you use to make art in one of our neighborhoods, open up your space to the public! You can register to open your own studio using our online system and your group will be listed as a single registrant.
Non-Profit Arts Organizations
Artspace welcomes other non-profit arts organizations to register for CWOS, to highlight members of your organization or if you will host a special exhibition during CWOS. We are also offer reduced advertising rates in our publications for fellow non-profits, please contact Artspace for more information.
