I-95
Take Exit 48 from I-95 to merge onto I-91. Follow directions from I-91, below.
I-91
Take Exit 3 – Trumbull Street. Turn left onto Orange. Follow Orange through the intersection of Chapel and Orange. Drive down one more block to the corner of Crown and Orange. Artspace is on the corner on your right. See Parking, below.
Merritt Parkway / CT-15
Take Exit 59 to merge onto CT-69, Whalley Avenue. Turn right onto Whalley and continue for 3 miles. Whalley merges into Broadway, which merges into Elm. Take Elm to Orange, turn right onto Orange. Drive down two more blocks, through the inersection of Orange and Chapel, to the corner of Crown and Orange. Artspace is on the corner on your right. See Parking, below.
Parking at Artspace
There is a Propark lot on your right as you approach Artspace, as you drive down Orange from the Chapel Street intersection, but before you reach Crown Street. Metered street parking is available on Orange and Crown Streets. Additionally, there is a LAZ parking lot that can be accessed by bearing left onto Orange at the corner of Crown Street and taking your next left at the stop sign onto George Street, then turning left into the lot.

By Train or Bus
New Haven’s Union Station is less than 10 minutes by foot from Artspace. MTA MetroNorth and Amtrak trains, as well as Greyhound and Peter Pan buses, serve Union Station. To walk to Artspace from Union Station, walk north on Union, which becomes State. When State forks, bear left. Then take a left onto Crown. Artspace is at Crown and Orange, on your right.
Taxis are usually waiting at Union Station, or call Metro Taxi at 203-777-7777 to order a taxi. A taxi ride to Artspace is under $5. A taxi ride to Erector Square or the Alternative Space is about $10. For the Individual Studios, free bus tours will be available at Artspace (see Events for details).

By Plane
Tweed New Haven
With newly added flights on Delta and US Airways, Tweed New Haven offers 7 flights a day to Philadelphia and Cincinnati and connecting to 126 cities. Visit the Tweed website [link] for information on buses, rental cars, and taxi service.
Directions from Tweed to Artspace
Take Burr St to Girard. Right onto Girard. Right onto Townsend. Left onto Main. Merge onto I-95 South. Take Exit 47 to Rt 34, toward Downtown New Haven. Take Exit 1 and turn right onto South Orange. Left onto George. Right onto State. Right onto Crown.

Individual Studios
On October 20-21, studios at over 30 locations will be open.
The West Side of town, including West Haven, Hamden, the Hill, Westville, and Downtown, or anywhere in New Haven west of Whitney Avenue/Church Street, is showing on Saturday, October 20.
The East Side of town, including Whitney Ave/Church Street, Audubon Arts District, Wooster Square, East Rock, Fair Haven, and North Haven, is open on Sunday, October 21.

Parking
There are ample parking lots directly in front of Erector Square and behind it. To access the back parking lot, use the driveway on Blatchley Avenue between State and Peck.
I-95
Take Exit 48 to I-91 North. Follow directions below.
I-91 North
Take Exit 7, Ferry Street / Fair Haven. Take a left onto Middletown Ave. Middletown Ave becomes Ferry Street, and then take a right onto Peck Street. The complex will be on your right.
I-91 South
Take Exit 6, Willow Street. At the bottom of the ramp, take a left onto Willow and drive under the underpass. As you cross State, Willow becomes Blatchley. At the next intersection, turn left onto Peck Street.
Merritt Parkway North
Take exit 54, the connector to I-95 N. On I-95, take Exit 48 to I-91 North. Follow directions from I-91 N above.
Merritt Parkway South
You can take Exit 67 or Exit 63, both merge onto I-91 South. Follow directions from I-91 N above.

Alternative Space Parking and Directions:
The 2007 Alternative Space site will be the former Hamden Middle School (the same site as last year) at 550 Newhall Street in Hamden, where Hamden meets New Haven.
The building is wheelchair accessible and has elevators.

FREE SHUTTLE BUSES will travel between Artspace and the Middle School at 550 Newhall St, so you can park downtown and then hop on the shuttle, which will loop continuously Saturday and Sunday from 11-6 pm, approx. every half hour, between Artspace, the designated visitor parking area at 130 Leeder Hill Drive in Hamden, and the Alternative Space. Shuttle will pick visitors up in front of the main entrance to the Artspace gallery, then stop in the horseshoe-shaped driveway at 130 Leeder Hill Rd. in Hamden to pick up more visitors, and will then continue to the Alternative Space.
Parking for 550 Newhall Street
Visitor parking has been arranged at 130 Leeder Hill Drive in Hamden, a quarter mile away from the site. See Shuttle Service, above, for more information about taking the shuttle. In addition, free, safe and secure on-street parking is available on the surrounding streets near the school: Morse and Goodrich Streets, Mill Rock Road, Prospect Street, and Bryden Terrace. Look for the special open studios lawn signs—neighborhood residents will rent spots near the building. Wheelchair accessible parking driveway for state handicap permit holders ONLY next to the school. See directions at the bottom of the page to get directly to the Alternative Space from Putnam Avenue for handicapped and street parking.

From Artspace
Turn right at Crown Street, and go 5 blocks until you hit York street. Turn right at York; go two blocks and turn left at Broadway. Bear right onto Dixwell Avenue; continue for approx. 1 mile. Turn right onto Putnam Avenue, next to Stop and Shop/CVS, and drive until you see Leeder Hill Rd. on your left. The parking area is on the left, across from the Yale Library Reshelving Facility, and please follow the signs to park. The shuttle will come every half an hour going towards the Alternative Space. See Shuttle Service, above.
From Route 15 exit 60
Exiting from either direction, take right at end of ramp. Drive South on Rte 10 (Dixwell Ave) for 1.4 miles or through 7 lights. At 8th light (just past Super Stop & Shop/CVS plaza on left), turn left onto
Putnam Avenue. Drive until you see Leeder Hill Rd. on your left. The parking area is on the left, across from the Yale Library Reshelving Facility, and please follow the signs to park. The shuttle will come every half an hour going towards the Alternative Space. See Shuttle Service, above.
From Route 15 exit 61
Going north, take left onto Whitney Ave. (south). Going south, take right onto Whitney Ave. (south). Drive 2.2 miles and take right at light (just past Whitneyville United Church on left) onto Putnam Avenue. Drive until you see Leeder Hill Rd. on your right. The parking area is on the left, across from the Yale Library Reshelving Facility, and please follow the signs to park. The shuttle will come every half an hour going towards the Alternative Space. See Shuttle Service, above.
From I-91
Take exit 10 (rte 40 connector). Follow connector to Route 10 South. Drive south on Whitney Avenue (Rte 10) for 3.8 miles, and take right at traffic light (just past Whitneyville United Church on left) onto Putnam Avenue. Drive until you see Leeder Hill Rd. on your right. The parking area is on the left, across from the Yale Library Reshelving Facility, and please follow the signs to park. The shuttle will come every half an hour going towards the Alternative Space. See Shuttle Service, above.
From I-95
Take Exit onto I-91 North. From I-91, take Exit 3 onto Trumbull Street. At end of ramp, continue straight on Trumbull to next light, and turn right onto Whitney Avenue (Haya’s Japanese Restaurant on right corner). Follow Whitney Avenue 2.2 miles. You will pass Eli Whitney Museum/Lake Whitney dam (on right), then Hamden Hall School (on left). Take left at next traffic light onto Putnam Avenue. Drive until you see Leeder Hill Rd. on your right. The parking area is on the left, across from the Yale Library Reshelving Facility, and please follow the signs to park. The shuttle will come every half an hour going towards the Alternative Space. See Shuttle Service, above.
To Alternative Space from Putnam Avenue: Depending on which direction you are coming from on Putnam Avenue, take either a left or a right onto Newhall Street. Follow Newhall Street until you see the former Hamden Middle School (the Alternative Space) on your right. Street parking is on the roads to your left; handicapped parking can be accessed by taking a right into the driveway and bearing left at the top, there will be someone to guide you. You must have a valid handicapped permit to park here, and it will be checked. Absolutely NO artist parking.
Artist Parking: Artists may park in the visitor lot at 130 Leeder Hill Drive after unloading in the horseshoe-shaped driveway in front of the school, and take the shuttle back to the Alternative Space. If you are parked in the horseshoe-shaped driveway or in back of the school, or in front of the handicapped parking area, you will be towed immediately and become ineligible to participate in any other City Wide Open Studios festival.
