Chisato’s Place, immediately demonstrates Steve DiGiovanni’s mastery of the oil medium and his ability to accurately depict an everyday scene. Upon closer examination, we find that DiGiovanni’s message, while to him is personal, is in fact ubiquitous. In a world of instant messaging and 10-hour work days, he calls upon us to see the value in slowing down, think about what is personally important, and paying attention to the small details of our immediate and intimate lives.

Steve DiGiovanni is the head of the Drawing and Painting Department at Creative Arts Workshop, New Haven.
