BIDDING AGREEMENT
To receive your bid paddle, please complete the Bidding Agreement when you arrive at Artspace. This form is a binding agreement between you and Artspace, stating that, upon winning an auction, you agree to purchase the artwork. A credit card number is required on this form. You may then begin bidding.
BIDDING ON THE SILENT AUCTION
A bid sheet will be posted beside each silent auction item, indicating the starting bid. To bid, simply write your bid number next to the next available bid amount. The minimum bid increment for silent auction items is variable and pre-populated on each bid sheet.
BIDDING ON THE LIVE AUCTION
The Live Auction will take place from 7:15 pm to 8:00 pm and will be run by professional auctioneer Guy Bennett. The procedure for live bidding is as follows:
Raise your paddle when you wish to bid and wait for the auctioneer to acknowledge you. If anyone else wishes to acquire the lot, they will bid against you by the same means. The auctioneer will continue taking ever-increasing bids from each interested party until all but one person drops out. The final bidder is the successful buyer and the auctioneer indicates that the lot is sold by knocking down his gavel on the rostrum and declaring the final hammer price. If bidding fails to reach the reserve (the minimum price the seller is prepared to accept), the item is unsold, and the auctioneer will indicate this by saying ‘pass’ and moving on to the next lot.
The final bidder is obligated by his Bidding Agreement to purchase the artwork for the final hammer price.

PAYMENT
If you win an auction lot, your credit card indicated on your bidding agreement will be charged for the total amount of all winning lots plus Connecticut sales tax. If you did not provide a credit card, you will be invoiced within seven business days. No payment will be accepted this evening.
ARTWORK PICK-UP AND SHIPPING
You are strongly recommended to take your purchase with you at the end of the evening. Both Silent and Live Auction Artwork will be available for pickup immediately following the Live Auction at the Live Auction site, 868 Chapel Street. The purchased work will be organized by winning bid number. Artspace will wrap your purchase free of charge. Purchases left at Artspace can be picked up by appointment during gallery hours, for one month following the auction. Artspace reserves the right to return the work to the artist if the buyer has not claimed it by May 31, 2008.
If you would like your artwork to be shipped, you must request shipping and pay for your purchase plus shipping and handling before leaving the auction.
