The work of Peter Waite has been described as “human allegory devoid of humans” (New York Times). Waite, who lives and works in Glastonbury, CT, was born in 1950 in North Adams, MA and received an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1975. He explores questions of authority and control in his work, often with portrayals of historical institutional spaces. Waite has received numerous fellowships including a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1995, and is represented by the Edward Thorp Gallery in New York and the Solway/Jones gallery in Los Angeles.
